Message from the PRCLS Director
Dear Patrons,
Effective April 1, 2025, employees at the Institute of Museum’s and Library Services (IMLS) have been placed on leave as a result of a Presidential Executive Order. Therefore, grants administered by the IMLS cannot be processed. Thirty-six percent of Pearl River County Library System’s (PRCLS) Hoopla budget is provided by an IMLS grant through the Mississippi Library Commission. This funding reduction takes effect today.
To maintain Hoopla access to more patrons, the library system has changed the monthly patron circulation limit from 4 checkouts to 3 checkouts.
The monthly Hoopla budget is divided evenly over each day. Once the daily limit is reached, patrons will need to wait until the next day to checkout a title(s). During the last seven days of each month, Hoopla offers Bonus Borrows, a curated list of titles that patrons can access without using one of their three checkouts. Bonus Borrows are free to the library system as well.
Further changes may need to be taken in the coming weeks and months.
